Hey all, hope you're well. Just thought I'd gauge your feedback on the recent update to include videos from various video game companies.

I understand that some of them struck you as ads, that was not at all my intention. Like you, I enjoy the variety of things people post here (plants, food, anime, illustrations, etc) and I would be loathe to squash that. Instead, my hope was to start some more conversations and get more people on to the site by automatically generating some stories based on popular games. Nontheless, I think it came off as intrusive and threatening to the close community that's been established.

Thus, I've removed the big companies (Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox, Pokemon) from the site. Instead, I've added some indie developers and bloggers. I took some time to find content I've seen you all talk about (ie, LoL, other MMO's, indie games, etc). I've also tweaked the story display so that there is never more than 1 story from an author on the page at a time.

Would it be easier to digest if you could very easily and clearly 'hide posts from user' (automated or otherwise)? That would allow us to add more content and perhaps some of it you would genuinely be into, thereby reducing the number of sites you had to visit to get news?

I'd love to hear what you think about these most recent changes. In particular, I'd also be curious to hear any recommendations you have on how we might create more involvement and start more convo's?

On a side note, if you have a Twitch, Soundcloud or Youtube and haven't added it to the site (via the 'social links' link on your avatar on the main menu) then you can do so and new content from those sites will automatically show up on here too. This is a great way to cross-post your latest YT videos with minimal effort, for example.

Have a good rest of your day, thanks for your time and support!

I did not like the stories from the companies because their descriptions were not real stories but carefully chosen words from their respective marketing teams. If a game were to be put here, a user would post a picture or link a video and write a more genuine story with his/her opinions. Also, games chosen by users are ones they want to share, while the companies will just market every game they produce in hopes of making a sale. If you want to start more conversations, I would like if it you turned on notifications when people @ each other so they know someone is talking to them. Do not forget that conversations are started naturally and cannot be forced. There are so many games out there it will be difficult to find common ground among everyone. BasilMarket had the common ground of MapleStory. Good luck with the site! While you ponder your changes, enjoy some fish and chips!

The way it is now is much better!
As for hiding post, I think that would be a great feature in the future, but not needed right now since the amount of post hasn't become overwhelming yet.
I'll admit there are a few posts I don't care about, but they're not hard to ignore.
I feel like everyone who's posting is trying their best to keep this site active, so even if I don't like their posts I'd feel bad hiding them.
(At least for the user made stories)
Maybe for the automated (game) news I'd be nice to be able to "opt-in" and be able to select the news stories you'd like to see.
